Habimah [hebräisch »Bühne«], jüdisch-israelisches Theaterensemble in Tel Aviv; 1917 in Moskau von Naum L. Zemach (* 1887, ✝ 1939) als Amateurgruppe gegründetes hebräisches Theater; die erste Vorstellung fand 1918 statt. Regisseur war zunächst J. B. Wachtangow (bekannteste Inszenierung »Der Dybuk« von S. Anski). Das Theater befand sich oft auf Gastspielreisen und hinterließ mit seinem eigenartig spukhaft wirkenden Spiel tiefen Eindruck. 1927 blieb ein Teil des Ensembles in den USA, der andere ließ sich endgültig 1931 in Palästina nieder. 1955 wurde das Habimatheater offiziell zum israelischen »Nationaltheater« erhoben; 1970 wurde ein neues Haus eröffnet. Das Repertoire umfasst v. a. nationaljüdische Stücke und ist international, von der Antike bis zur bürgerlichen Moderne ausgerichtet.
